Book trailers

The Anne-girl, from Scribblings of my pen and tappings of my keyboard, just posted her first book trailers.
I'm very susceptible to trailers. I love book trailers even more than movie trailers because there are tons of movie trailers, but very few book trailers.
So, thank you anne-girl, I am now in the mood to make trailers. I am thinking I shall make a book trailer for The Arthurian Chronicles, one my latest writing endeavors, which focuses on King Arthur. It is three parts (I haven't finished part two yet, though): Of the Crowning of Arthur, The Exploits of Arthur, and.... well, like I said, I haven't finished part two. :) However, I have some great ideas as to who ought to portray who... though Mahalath could be difficult. I just love Mahalath. She's just so... annoyingly cheery!
I shall post my book trailer as soon as I can (I can see you all rolling your eyes, since you know by now that that will be a while from now). It seems as if I make more promises than actual posts.
As a side note, I really want to do the next Beautiful People thingy, but it seems as if they haven't done their June edition? I might do their May edition if they don't post the June one soon.

Both I and one of my sisters take piano and voice from a really awesome teacher. We just had a recital (my first time singing solo ever!), actually. This song, from the musical 'Wicked' is one of the songs I'm working on now, along with Greensleeves. I love it!

Peanut Butter Smoothie

It seems like half of my posts are smoothies. Hmm? What does that tell us? I like smoothies and we eat them all the time.

Peanut Butter Smoothie
Serves: 3-4
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 5-10 minutes

9 Tbls peanut butter or almond butter (this is the secret ingredient that's not so secret)
1 1/2 cups vanilla ice cream, vegan or otherwise
1 1/2 cups almond milk (rice milk, soy milk, cow milk, sheep milk, goat milk, or, hey, even water buffalo milk would work just fine, too)
(Optional: 2 Tbls cocoa powder)

Blend ingredients and serve immediately. Store leftovers in the refrigerator.

I am really bad at keeping up with my blog. Probably my readers left a long time ago. I need to get better about this. I apologize now for not keeping up better.

Quill Pens

I was thinking earlier today, how perhaps I should change my name. Because I'm not always writing, and, when I am writing, I write on the computer. If I'm not on the computer, I'm using a pencil, except if I'm writing an invitation or signing a check or something important like that.
But then I thought, I'm sort of like a quill pen. We all are.

[She's kind of weird.  * WHY * am I reading this blog, again?]

Stick with me a moment. I am a quill pen, sort of pretty, but hollow. Useless without ink. Empty. Hollow. Pretty but nothing more.
What is the purpose of a quill pen? To be used. To write a story. To be filled with ink.
By myself I am a shell. Empty and useless. A pretty shelf-decoration, at best. A forgotten bird part, at worst.
In comes the ink. Silky, smooth, pretty. God is the ink. Without ink, a quill pen is pretty much useless.
Then comes the ink. The ink fills the hollow spots in a way that the air can't. It changes the quill pen from an unnecessary space-filler to an artist's brush. Suddenly, the little boring quill pen is writing stories like sunsets blooming into beauty.

I want to bloom, too. I want my ink. I'm ready to be useful.

Healthy Snacks/ Promise/Recommendation/

Okay, so eating healthy meals isn't all that hard - but what about the in-between times when one feels the pangs of hunger? You have these options:
Option one: Buy healthy snacks that cost many $.
Option two: Buy not-so-healthy snacks, therewith saving $ and compromising your morals.
Option three: Make your own snacks, which usually you have to do a day (or an hour) in advance.
Option three is definitely the best, but, as I pointed out, they aren't usually easy or quick.
These are two of my favorite simple recipes - I have other favorites, but they aren't as quick.

Unsalted Sunflower seeds
Chocolate chips

Take a handful of sunflower seeds accompanied by two-three chocolate chips. (Can you believe how simple this is???)

Ambrosial Trail Mix
(Note: I did come up with this by myself, so it is patented. The above recipe is not, since my mother thought of it first [or maybe someone else suggested it to her])

  •  One box of Nature's Path 'Pomegran Plus™ Granola' (I recommend their cereals and granolas)
  •  Semi-sweet chocolate chips, probably about a 1/4 cup
  • Raisins, maybe a 1/3 cup?
  • Unsalted Sunflower seeds, about 1/4 cup
  • Coconut flakes, about 1/4 cup??
  • Dried goji berries, about 1/4 cup???

So, the main component of this is the granola, but the other ingredients are pretty optional. Just mix them together like a normal trail mix.
Goji berries are rather expensive,  but even just using a small amount gives the snack a good flavor. We get ours at a local, one-location store, but they can probably be found at Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Natural Grocers or Costco.
Whenever I create a new recipe like this, I never measure ingredients; I just add however much I think is necessary, so feel free to tweak the amounts.

A recipe I stumbled across the other day can be found here. I've followed the recipe to the letter, and I've also tried adding peanut butter, both of which brought great success.
And of course, I'm a die hard fan of Elana's Pantry.

I promise a book review soon, a review of the first two books of The Lamb Among the Stars series, written by Chris Walley. And I promise that it will be a good review! I love these books!!!!

I am giving a musical recommendation. Several, in fact. If you like bands, check out
If you like artists better, look up
  • Kari Jobe (esp. 'We Are,' 'Find You on My Knees,' and 'Steady My Heart'),
  • Ginny Owens (esp. 'Run to You,' 'With Me,' and 'Simply Love You'),
  •  Francesca Battistelli (esp. 'This is the Stuff,' 'Constant,' 'Blue Sky,' 'Beautiful, Beautiful,' 'Someday Soon,' 'I'm Letting Go,' or 'Free to be Me') ,
  • Jamie Grace (esp. 'Hold Me,' 'With You,' 'God Girl,' '1945,' or 'Show Jesus')
  • or Bethany Dillon (esp. 'Exodus (Faithful)', 'Lead Me On,' 'Great Big Mystery,' or 'All I Need')
I think I ought to have some sort of reward. I just used more links in one post than I ever have before.

Strawberry Lemon Cream

Something like strawberry sherbet. With a blender. :)

1/4 cup lemon juice
1/3 cup almond milk
1 T honey
at least 1 cup of frozen strawberries. Or more.
Blend. Eat. Smile.

*all amounts are approximate as I simply put in what I think it needs and don't measure how much it is. It's more fun that way.
